Training and Development.

An organization’s human resources are its greatest asset. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize training and development for these resources. The recognition of the employee efforts by the company is crucial for organizational success and effectiveness. Effective workforce development requires the creation and implementation of training programs that meet the needs of both employees and the organization. Such programs should equip employees to have access to the appropriate technological skills necessary to enhance job performance and prevent skill obsolescence. In addition, the policies and practices that support employee training and development can impact employees' activity levels, providing more opportunities for employee participation and increasing commitment to the organization (Rifqa & Sopiah, 2022).

The practice of training and development demonstrates to employees that the organization values their professional and personal growth. The practice of training and development demonstrates an organization’s commitment to the professional growth of its employees. It can be concluded that effective training and development can lead to positive changes that help to achieve company goals if human resources capitalize on these opportunities (Rifqa & Sopiah, 2022).

Training

According to the Dessler (2020), training is the process of acquiring essential skills by employees to perform their work efficiently. Employee training provides practical knowledge and its application in a company’s work environment, which leads to an increase in work productivity. The primary purpose of training is to assist the organization in achieving its desired goals. (Rifqa & Sopiah, 2022).

The training program consist of three phases, such as,

1.     The first phase involves a training needs analysis to gather information and determine the necessity of a training program.

2.     The second phase focuses on designing the training environment and methods required to achieve the training program. This phase is known as the development of the training program.

3.     The third phase is the evaluation of the training program, which involves testing and assessing whether the implemented program has successfully met its stated goals (Rifqa & Sopiah, 2022).

Organizations invest in employee training to enhance the skills of their existing employees and to ensure that new hires possess the necessary knowledge and abilities. Training is a structured approach to learning and development that benefits individuals, groups, and organizations. It involves a series of activities designed to promote knowledge and skill acquisition, which in turn contributes to the overall well-being and performance of employees and organizations, as well as society at large.  According to Manju and Suresh (2011), training helps organizations to remain competitive by improving the quality of their goods and services through the enhancement of their employees’ technical skills (Muhammad & Dr.Rashad, 2013).

Organizations must provide ongoing training to improve worker skills as the business environment constantly evolves. To create an effective training program for an employee, it is important to first analyze their training and development requirements. This can be accomplished by conducting a performance evaluation to determine their current level of expertise and identify the areas that require improvement. Once the evaluation is complete, the training program can be tailored to meet the employee’s specific needs and promote their professional growth (Topiwala & Dr.Anuradha, 2021) .

Development

According to Kurniawati (2020), human resource development refers to the intentional actions taken by an organization to enhance the competency of its human resources in the long run. It ensures that the human resource department has the necessary skills and abilities to fulfil the requirements of their roles, which in turn leads to better individual performance and overall organizational growth (Rifqa & Sopiah, 2022).

The development was carried out using the following strategies, such as,

1.     Management development methods aligned with the company’s strategic plans.

2.     To evaluate and promote employees, organizations use the 9-box grid to assess competence and potential for higher positions.

3.     To provide managers with on-the-job training and rotation, coaching, action learning, and stretch assignments can be utilized effectively.

4.     Off-the-job management training and development techniques include methods carried out outside of the work environment, such as, seminars, university programs, role-playing, and cooperating universities (Rifqa & Sopiah, 2022)

The term development refers to the process of acquiring new knowledge and skills to foster growth. Organizations offer their employee development program to enhance their capabilities. In today’s business environment, employee development has become an increasing and strategic priority. Therefore, organizations must invest in continuous employee development to maintain their employees and ensure the success of the organization (Muhammad & Dr.Rashad, 2013).

Training and development offer benefits such as improved employee performance, increased productivity, adherence to quality standards, consistent work, and reduced employee turnover. They also foster innovation, risk-taking, and an improved organizational reputation (Topiwala & Dr.Anuradha, 2021).

  3. Training and Development is a good tool to use in an organization. However the quality of the training is very critical as certain companies have training requirements for their employees which make no sense at all and there is no value participating in said trainings.

Companies also expect you to complete a certain number of hours in online training which has no value to it either as not many staff take it seriously.
